Reporting: Consultancy Services Lead
Position Overview:
The Principal Energy Consultant is responsible for overseeing large-scale energy consultancy assignments and services, advising clients at a strategic level, and leading energy optimisation initiatives. This role requires a deep technical understanding of large industrial manufacturing sites and associated utilities and processes. You will work with senior leadership in manufacturing industries to ensure energy strategies align with both operational and financial goals. You will have the ability to lead large scale complex assignments, managing stakeholders, timelines and budgets. As a Principal Consultant you will provide expert technical guidance across the consultancy services team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead complex energy audits and climate action strategies delivering both technical and strategic solutions for clients.
· Produce feasibility studies, M&V Reports, Energy Efficient Design Reviews and other energy consultancy services.
· Provide expert advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, and sustainability strategies, helping clients achieve their energy goals.
· Manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for key clients and ensuring high satisfaction levels.
· Supervise and mentor junior consultants, providing guidance and oversight on project execution and client interactions.
· Develop customised energy plans, including cost-saving initiatives, renewable energy systems, and energy efficiency improvements.
· Drive sustainability programs, advising clients on achieving energy certifications and reducing their carbon footprint.
· Monitor industry regulations, ensuring clients comply with energy efficiency standards and legal requirements.
· Be aware of relevant grant opportunities and advise clients on the applicability of same. Leverage these opportunities to further advance EM3 offerings across other service lines where appropriate
· Develop improved processes and templates to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of EM3’s core offerings.
· Ability to work under own supervision and to problem solve accordingly
· Provide technical guidance and insights to the wider team where necessary
· Supporting business development as required.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
· Relevant certifications such as Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), CMVP or similar credentials are highly desirable.
Experience:
· 7+ years of experience in energy consulting, energy audits, or sustainability within industrial sectors.
· Demonstrated experience in delivering complex energy audits, climate action strategies and Energy Efficient Design Reviews for Industrial clients.
· Extensive knowledge of industrial energy systems, energy-saving technologies, and renewable energy solutions.
· Experience of leading the implementation and maintenance of ISO50001 Energy Management Systems.
· Comprehensive experience in verifying energy savings using appropriate methodologies (IPMVP).
· Experience of managing key stakeholders at a senior level within client organisations.

· Mobility: Ability to travel domestically & internationally when required. Driver’s licence is a requirement.
· Technical Knowledge: Expertise in industrial utility systems and in particular the identification of decarbonisation opportunities.
