Role Overview
The Contracts & Compliance Manager plays a critical leadership role in managing EM3’s contractual frameworks and ensuring company-wide compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing robust contract management systems, ensuring the organisation’s operations align with industry regulations, and advising senior leadership on risk and governance matters. This is a high-impact role suited to a detail-oriented professional with strong legal, commercial and operational insight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including service agreements, NDAs, sub-contractor terms, and supplier contracts.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle—from initiation and approval through execution, compliance tracking, and renewal.
- Ensure EM3’s operations comply with all applicable laws, industry regulations, certifications (e.g., ISO 50001, ISO 9001), and client-specific contractual obligations.
- Be the company coordinator for Ethics & Compliance, liaising with the broader SHV E&C team
- Lead the development and implementation of company-wide compliance policies, frameworks, and internal controls.
- Provide legal and compliance guidance to project managers, engineers, and senior executives.
- Monitor regulatory developments in construction, energy, data protection (GDPR), health & safety, and environmental law that may impact EM3’s operations.
- Support internal and external audits, due diligence reviews, and certification processes.
- Develop risk registers and implement mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams.
- Coordinate insurance, indemnity, and liability provisions across contracts and operational activities.
- Train staff on compliance obligations, contract awareness, and legal risk management best practices.
- Liaise with external legal counsel as required on complex or high-risk matters.

- Contract Management Expertise: Deep understanding of commercial contracts, with the ability to analyse, negotiate, and administer terms effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong knowledge of Irish and EU legislation relevant to engineering, energy, procurement, and data protection.
- Risk Awareness: Ability to identify legal and operational risks early and develop robust mitigation strategies.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and diligence in managing legal documents and compliance records.
- Communication & Influence: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters to technical and non-legal stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: Excellent time and task management to handle multiple contracts and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ethical Judgment: Commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in all matters.
- Collaboration: Works cross-functionally with engineering, finance, and operations teams to integrate compliance into daily business activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Law, Business, Contract Management, Compliance, or a related field (Legal qualification or relevant certification highly desirable).
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in contract management, legal compliance, or a similar role—preferably within engineering, energy, or construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Irish contract law and relevant industry regulations (including GDPR, health & safety, and public procurement rules).
- Experience with ISO standards (particularly ISO 9001, 50001) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with risk registers, contract templates, and compliance management tools.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
