Heat Recovery & Thermal Reconfiguration

The plant used large quantities of steam to heat hot water. Hot water is used for cleaning, Domestic Hot Water (DHW) and boiler feedwater (BFW).


It was also identified that a considerable amount of heat was being rejected from the sites refrigeration plant and air compressors.
Heat recover was implemented on the refrigeration and compressed air plant. This heat was supplemented by new Liquid Petroleum Gas fired Low Pressure Hot Water (LPHW) Boilers. The heat sinks for LPHW meant that existing site steam was made
redundant.
